Ich schmeiss das mal als eigenen Thread hier rein - kann man ja immer noch in den PSN-Thread oder so verschieben, aber ja, im Grunde handelt es sich bei PlayStation Now ja nicht um einen rein auf PS4, PS3 und PS Vita bezogenen Service, sondern kann auch von Tablets und Smartphones aus "genossen" werden.

 

Auf jeden Fall - Ladies und Gentlemen -: Gaikai wird sich demnächst wohl auszahlen und von den genannten Plattformen aus kann auf PS1, PS2, PS3-Spiele und mehr via Streaming zugegriffen werden - und es darf wohl davon ausgegangen werden, dass Sony auch für ältere Klassiker Trophäen verscherbeln wird .

 

In addition to PlayStation platforms, most 2014 U.S. models of Sony's BRAVIA® TV*2 lineup will support PS Now. Eventually the service will expand beyond PlayStation platforms and Sony devices, allowing users to stream PlayStation games on numerous other Internet-connected devices.

 

SCE's vision for PS Now is to enable users to instantly enjoy a wide range of full games on the Internet-connected consumer electronics devices they use every day. The accessibility of PS Now means, for example, that PS4 users in the living room can continue playing a game on a PS3 system in their bedroom. Or PS Vita users can enjoy instant access to a game wherever there's Wi-Fi connectivity, such as outdoors, then can switch to a supporting BRAVIA® TV's big screen and play the same game after arriving home.

 

PS Now will offer choice to gamers with how they want to access content. Gamers can rent by title for specific games they are interested in, or they can choose a subscription that delivers additional value with the ability to explore and play many games available across a wide variety of genres. In addition, the service will support many popular PSNSM features such as online multi-player, Trophies, and messages.

 

"We are thrilled to deliver entertainment experiences only possible from PlayStation through our new streaming game service," said Andrew House, President and Group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. "PS Now will allow users to engage in the world of PlayStation, whether they're existing fans or have never owned a PlayStation platform."

 

During the 2014 International CES held in Las Vegas from January 7, attendees can visit the Sony booth to have a hands-on experience with the PS Now service for the first time ever. Attendees can enjoy four blockbuster PS3 titles, BEYOND: Two Souls, God of War: Ascension, The Last of Us and Puppeteer from SCE Worldwide Studios, on PS Vita or BRAVIA® TV.

 

Prior to the official launch, SCE will begin a beta program on PS3 systems in certain regions of the United States from the end of January. Additional information about PS Now will be available at http://us.playstation.com/playstationnow.

 

So etwas wie eine "Kaufmöglichkeit" scheint es wohl nicht zu geben, was bei einem Streaming-Service ja wohl fast schon auf der Hand liegt. Mich persönlich stört das "Miet- und Abo-"Prinzip aber dennoch ein bisschen, zumal ja jetzt noch nicht wirklich klar ist, was genau wieviel kostet und was bei den "Subscriptions" genau für Zugriffsrechte dabei sein werden. Ich bleibe trotz geilem Gesamtkonzept hierbei noch etwas skeptisch.

 

Unklar ist ja auch noch, wann genau der Service bei uns in Europa starten wird... Der erste Startschuss fällt im Sommer in den USA, wobei bestimmte Regionen der Vereinigten Staaten schon Ende dieses Monats an einer Beta teilnehmen können.

 

Und welche Frage fast noch wichtiger wäre: Keine regionalen Beschränkungen beim Streaming? Also kein Region-Lock?

Nach über 5 Jahren hat es Sony noch immer nicht geschafft Video/Music Unlimited bzw. den PSN Videostore in die Schweiz zu bringen... :userious:

 

Ich würde hier also nicht zu optimistisch sein mit PS NOW...

 

Das Konzept klingt natürlich sehr geil, wenn das wirklich Lagfrei gestreamt werden kann.

Ja, geile Sache. Schade das es wohl NIE in die Schweiz kommen wird. Wir sind da bekanntlich im Boden unter den Fahnenstange was Online-Services angeht .

ist ja schliesslich von sony selbst und wurde als grosses feature der konsole gefeiert.

Beim Videostore muss Sony aber mit den jeweiligen Labels für jedes Land Verträge abschliessen, das ist das schwierige. Apple hat das gleiche Problem. Darum können wir in der Schweiz noch keine TV-Serien über iTunes kaufen

Zumindest die Sony-eigenen Filme hätte man anbieten können. Ausserdem sind Verhandlungen auch fürs Streamen von 3rd-Party-Spielen nötig - sofern sie das denn wollen.

Dabei gäbe es ja keinen Grund als 3rd-Party, sich als Dienstverweigerer zu profilieren. Stellt es denn einen solch grossen Aufwand dar, seine eigenen Spiele, selbst bis zurück in die PSX-Zeit, dem PSN zur Verfügung zu stellen? Ich meine, die Spiele liegen bestimmt auf den hauseigenen Servern oder was auch immer rum und brach, und warten nur darauf, von einer ganz neuen, jungen Klientel entdeckt zu werden.

 

Und es wäre zumindest technisch möglich, ne PSX-Disc ins PS4-Laufwerk zu schieben, Gaikai verifiziert die Echtheit et voilà - schon kann das Original als Stream gezockt werden. Das wurde mir schon von zwei Sony-Mitarbeitern so als technisch machbar erklärt. Dass das dann nicht immer kostenlos gemacht wird, dürfte einleuchten ... aber verdammt, TUT ES!! Noch so viele Originale daheim....

Überwältigende Reaktionen hier

 

 

PlayStation Now requires a 5Mb/s connection to ensure what Sony calls a "good experience" for the majority of games.

 

That's according to Sony Computer Entertainment America social media manager Sid Shuman, who demoed the streaming tech at the Consumer Electronics Show this week and reported his findings on the PlayStation Blog.

 

PlayStation Now will roll out this summer in the US on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, with PlayStation Vita and other internet connected devices, including 2014 Bravia televisions, to follow. The idea is it will let you stream PS3 games in real time over the internet, including Beyond: Two Souls, God of War: Ascension, The Last of Us and Puppeteer.

 

As Shuman notes, you'll need a DualShock 3 controller to play PS3 games on a Bravia, so don't chuck yours out just yet. Right now, there are what Shuman calls "minor concessions" when it comes to graphics, including compression artefacts associated with gameplay streaming.

 

And here's the important part: the PlayStation Now team currently estimates that a 5Mb/s connection will provide a "good experience for most games". Expect more information after feedback is gathered from the closed beta, which launches in the US at the end of January.

 

Sony is yet to announce when PlayStation Now will be available on these shores, though. Last year a trusted Eurogamer source told us the full Gaikai-powered service would roll out in Q3 2014 in North America, which tallies with Sony's official summer 2014 release window. We understand PlayStation Now may not launch in Europe until 2015.

Wenn ich trotz Originalen zu Hause trotzdem zahlen muss für die Games, wirds eh nichts bei mir. Trotzdem finde ich es gut, dass es wohl für die älteren Spiele auch auf PS3 funktioniert, hoffe es zumindest. Aber da es wohl erst 2015 bei uns kommt, interessiert es mich zur Zeit kein bisschen.

Das ganze Cloudgaming nervt mich im Moment nur noch - es geht eigentlich nicht um den Mehrwert für Spiele, oder Spieler, sondern darum wie dreifach, vierfach, fünffach etc. für dasselbe abkassiert werden kann

Zum Glück habe ich ja die PS3 noch und nach ein paar Jährchen hole ich mir wieder eine und zocke die Games dann halt darauf.

Input-Lag wird wohl das grösste Problem bei dem Teil (wie bei jedem anderen Game-Streaming-Projekt .

 

Aber bei God of War unter "optimalen" Bedingungen schaut es schon noch krass aus:

mit einer richtigen leitung (glasfaser 50-100 mbit/s) sollte das doch kein problem sein.

verdammte internet peasants mit ihren bambusleitungen sollten eh gleich ausgesperrt werden.

Die Geschwindigkeit (MB/s) hat ja nur mit dem Input-Lag zu tun.
