http://www.gbase.ch/mobile/news/10568/One-Piece-UC-SP-Entfernt-Namco-Inhalte-aus-EU-Version%3f-52083.html

Ciel No Surge, Gust’s PlayStation Vita Game, Revealed

All of the teasers from Gust are about Ciel no Surge: Song of the Lost Star’s Offering, a new series in development for PlayStation Vita.

The main character is a young girl named Ion (short for Ionasol) who lost her memory. In Ciel no Surge players will interact with her by selecting choices using the touch screen (reports state this is a "communication game") and there is a bar code reading function that connects to the world beyond. One of these bar codes is hidden in Gust’s teasers. The game also has online connectivity, but how Gust plans on using it has not been detailed.

Ion has light brown hair and is said to be the girl from the teaser art (pictured here). While Ion is in the kitchen you can select things like: cook, create a combo meal, soup, salad, and pastry. Other commands shown in the magazine are "lets do something together," "lets go to the dream world," and "need time to decide." Players will spend three years caring for Ion.

The game’s world is called La Ciel and there is song magic. Songs control the sun, which is dangerous in the world. Ciel no Surge takes place in a floating city called Coron.

Ciel no Surge: Song of the Lost Star’s Offering is the first game in a new series from Gust called Surge Concerto, which has a concept of seven dimensions. Gust plans to use this world view as the base for several titles spanning different platforms. Ciel no Surge is first and it’s slated for release as a PlayStation Vita game on April 26.

Persona 4: The Golden Has A New Town To Explore

Players can get a moped license in Persona 4: The Golden. It’s one of the new features made for the PlayStation Vita version. In battle, the license lets you use a special attack where an ally can ride a bike into a fight.

On the world map, you the moped can take you to new areas. Famitsu says players can visit a beach and a neighboring town. Yosuke suggests the group takes a trip after you earn your license. Details on how to obtain the license have not been revealed.

Persona 4: The Golden is slated for release this spring in Japan.

Devil Survivor 2′s Fate System Is A Twist On Persona’s Social Links

I’ve been playing Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 and one new system in the Nintendo DS game should sound familiar if you played Persona 3 or 4. Talking to your teammates forms a "Fate" bond and as it develops you unlock more abilities.

Devil Survivor 2 begins in Tokyo with you and Daichi Shijima, who acts as the comic relief, waiting for a subway train. Both of you run into Io Nitta, a classmate adored by all of the male students. Daichi sheepishly tries to talk to her, but the protagonist steps in. Before you can have a conversation everyone’s phones beep with a message from Nicaea, a mysterious web site which shows a clip of them… about to die.

After the trio cheats death by defeating demons a main menu opens up. Instead of a list of locales like Shinjuku and Shibuya, Devil Survivor 2 has a small list of events. Most events center around the characters you meet instead of say chasing Naoya around Tokyo. You’ll get to know the secondary characters better even little details like where Io shops and the mystery behind Joe Akie’s girlfriend.

Devil Survivor 2s Fate System Is A Twist On Personas Social Links When you talk to characters or save their lives the Fate system powers them up. The first Fate bonus you earn is elemental resistance. Daichi gets Anti-Fire and Io learns Anti-Elec, skills reduce damage against Agi and Zio, respectively. Fate resistances do not take up skill slots either so you have room to add on other passive abilities like "Moneybags" which gives you a Macca Bonus or "Extra Bonus" to increase the chance of earning an extra turn. At level two, Fate adds on a joint skill crack. In Devil Survivor games, you set which abilities you want to learn before a battle begins and if a specific character defeats that demon you gain a new skill. If Io is Fate level two, joint skill crack gives you more options. Either the protagonist or Io can deal the final blow to learn the skill.

The Fate system also summarizes your relationship with each character. In the Fate menu, you can see a list of events with each character. So far, it feels like Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 is more streamlined than Devil Survivor since most of the events center around developing relationships between the game’s characters.

Fortune Summoners Playtest: Looks Can Be Deceiving

At first glance, Lizsoft’s Fortune Summoners appears simple. It’s a 2D side-scrolling adventure, with the usual fare of dungeon spelunking and monster slaying. The controls are keyboard only; no mouse, even in menus. The main characters are three young girls accompanied by a magical floating rabbit-like spirit. However, underneath everything that is commonplace lies a fairly difficult game that challenged me the whole way through.

Arche, Sana, and Stella are the three stars of Fortune Summoners. Arche is a cheerful swordsman (swordsgirl?), naïve to the point of obliviousness. Sana is quiet and shy water mage, but very dedicated to her friends. Stella is a rich fire mage who is prickly to everyone and has no friends. All three are classmates in the Minasa-Ratis magic school.

Elemental Stones control magic in the world of Fortune Summoners and is as common as bread. Sana has a water-based Elemental Stone. Stella has a fire-based one. Arche has … nothing, and, unfortunately, because of this she can’t participate in class. Eventually, she does find one, but all it does is spit out a magical bunny; it won’t make magic like she needs it to until all three Wind Crests are assembled.

Thus, the three new friends embark on a journey to find the Wind Crests and to unravel the mystery behind Arche’s new wind-based Elemental Stone.

In Fortune Summoners, you take control of a one character at a time. You can switch between your companions with the press of a button. Each character has a distinct fighting style that heavily affects gameplay. I really like how easy it is to switch between the characters if you need to micromanage a battle according to the situation. The commands you can use to control your party can also be accessed at a touch, and you can even heal quickly with a single button.

Each character has her own style of fighting. Arche, because she has no magic, relies solely on physical attacks. Her sword’s range is very short and thus you’ll need a lot of patience and strategy just to get her close enough to strike the enemy. Guarding is essential and sometimes the only way to defeat your average slimeball.

Sana, with her water spell, focuses on status effect and healing spells. Her attack shoots out in a straight line, and her spells are strong. The spells are designed such that they’re fairly easy to dodge, though.

On the other hand, Stella has offensive fire spells such as creating fire walls to block off the enemy – thus giving you more time to cast another spell – and homing spells. Her attacks bounce back and forth like a yo-yo in front of her. She’s my favorite character to use. Different situations call for different strategies. If I’m facing fast-moving enemies, like Kobolds or Cocorats (squirrel-fox creatures) and I have a party of Arche and Stella, then I would take control of Arche to have her guard and act as a shield so that Stella can pull off a spell and roast everyone in one shot. If the enemies are flying, swooping ones like bats or moth-bees, then I’d take control of Stella and cast a fire wall and watch the monsters burn as they tried to charge me.

That being said, the AI in this game is amazing, both for your characters and for the enemies. Arche, when controlled by the computer, is even better than me at exterminating the nasty critters! In fact, if you use the quick heal button, you will automatically use the best item for the situation (this even applies for curing effects like poison).

On the other hand, the monsters are very smart. They always follow certain patterns (for example, the Cocorat hops up to you with a flying jump kick before kicking at you like a kangaroo, and once its health is down, it runs away and starts hurling acorns at you), but they will dodge, and they will block your attacks. They will get behind you if they can. This, combined with the severe limitations each character has, makes Fortune Summoners a challenging game despite the cutesy art.

In addition to fighting styles, each girl also differs in how they can use their abilities outside of battle.

Stella can burn down vines and brambles blocking your way, as well as light torches. Sana can walk underwater without losing health (but since she can hardly fight on her own, beware of underwater enemies and be prepared to run!). Arche is the only one who can push crates and various vehicles around. All of these abilities are used liberally through the dungeons and sometimes, you’ll have to backtrack to old dungeons with a previously missing party member if you want to fully explore areas.

The dungeons are veritable mazes. This may not sound like anything surprising, but recent years of gaming have accustomed me to the idea of a map when a dungeon is this complicated – doors upon doors upon corridors upon corridors. No such thing exists in Fortune Summoners. I have had to backtrack to explore every possible route more times in this game than I have in almost every other RPG I’ve played. On top of that, puzzles require you to run back and forth between a switch and the door it controls, and sometimes you’ll find yourself running through the same dungeon ten times to heal yourself or to advance the storyline. Luckily, Arche and co. run pretty quickly for girls with such short legs, and almost every encounter is avoidable. Backtracking isn’t as painful as it could have been, but it is very prevalent.

For a game that requires so heavily on timing and active battling, though, the controls could have been more sensitive. I’ve found myself frustrated many a time because Arche would not turn when I wanted her to. It took quite a bit to get used to, and even then, it caused many an irritating death that could have easily been avoided.

I wasn’t particularly fond of the fact that you always have to draw her sword for her to attack, as opposed to it being automatic, either. The mechanic seems to be there to prevent you from investigating chests and items with enemies around; however, the point seems moot when you can press a different button for her examine these objects with your sword out anyways. The tutorials aren’t very good and you’ll have to look through the menus and the included manual yourself to figure out the finer details of using abilities and magic. They’re there, but require some digging.

The same goes for advancing the game. What you have to do next isn’t always very clear. Other than these flaws, though, I was very impressed by the amount of adjusting and strategy required to play as the different girls and by the dungeon designs in Fortune Summoners. I enjoyed trying to figure out different ways for the girls to work together as they trek through night impossible labyrinths. The game isn’t very long, but is a tough one, wrought with challenges the whole way.

Food for thought:

1.) I really like the graphics. Simple, but detailed. The art, not so much, but I’m willing to overlook it.

2.) The enemies are very good at dodging. So good, in fact, that I like to play jump rope them with them using Stella’s yoyo-style fireball. They never come any closer. They just jump, and jump, with jump and … perfectly in time with your attack.

3.) Items in this game are … cheap, cheap, cheap. Except for weapons. They want you to fight and earn your right to use those.

4.) There are four difficulty levels that you can change at any time. I’m playing at Normal. I shudder at the thought of Hard difficulty.

5.) There are several bonuses you can unlock as with go through the game. The ones I’ve unlocked by the sixth chapter include 1-vs.-1 battles an AI, and automated gameplay, where you watch the computer control all your characters and run through a random map. This latter would probably be handy in trying to figure out the best way to defeat new enemies since the AI is so good.

:sabber:

What Happened To Grand Knights History?

In September, Xseed announced that they would be publishing Vanillaware’s PSP RPG, Grand Knights History, sometime in “winter”. Winter arrived a while ago and soon, it’ll be gone, but we haven’t heard anything of Grand Knight History’s release.

After the subject came up in our comments, we looked around on Xseed’s Facebook page to see if we could find any information pertaining to the matter.

As expected, fans anticipating the game’s release had already asked Xseed about the title numerous times over Facebook. What we gathered from the various replies is that Xseed, too, are presently in the dark as to the status of the game.

This is because Vanillaware currently have their hands full with completing the development of another title for the PlayStation Vita — presumably Dragon’s Crown — before they can begin working on the localized version of Grand Knights History.

We’ll keep our readers updated if the situation changes in the months to come.

Yes, Square Enix’s Sleeping Dogs Is True Crime: Hong Kong

[video=youtube;SHIRceS-blA]

Yesterday, Square Enix announced a new title — Sleeping Dogs — slated for release on the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. We suspected this game might be the title formerly called True Crime: Hong Kong, and it turns out that it is.

Set in Hong Kong, Sleeping Dogs has you playing as Wei Shen, an undercover cop attempting to take down the Hong Kong triads from the inside. Last year, we shared pages from the game’s script, which give a good idea of the tone of its story.

Sleeping Dogs is being developed by United Front Games in partnership with Square Enix London Studios. Prior to being picked up by Square Enix, True Crime: Hong Kong was cancelled by Activision. While Square picked up the rights to the game itself, they didn’t buy the rights to the True Crime brand, which is why the game has a different title now.

Square Enix will release Sleeping Dogs in the second half of 2012. You can watch a new live-action announcement trailer for the game above.

Do You Want Your Fire Emblem Characters To Die?

It’s an apt question to ask because Fire Emblem: Awakening has a permadeath option. Just like the last Fire Emblem game on the DS, you can play Fire Emblem: Awakening in classic mode where fallen characters perish forever or in casual mode which revives them after battle.

Famitsu announced the news plus mentioned Fire Emblem: Awakening has three difficulty levels: normal, hard, and lunatic.

Intelligent Systems added more than 40 jobs to Fire Emblem: Awakening including mage, tactician, cleric (called sister in Japan), and cavalier (called social knight in Japan). Characters will be able to do a class change later in the game.

Fire Emblem: Awakening is slated for release on April 19 in Japan.

:ugly:

Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch Will Cast Its Spell This Winter

Europe won’t get to play Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch until Q1 2013, but North America isn’t getting much sooner either. Namco Bandai announced this morning that No no Kuni will be released sometime during Winter 2012 in North America.

Like the European release of the game, the North American version will feature both Japanese and English-language voice tracks.

Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch puts you in the shoes of Oliver, a young boy who crosses into another world to find his mother. The game was developed by Level-5 in collaboration with animation house, Studio Ghibli.

“Our top priority for the Western release of Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is to localize the game with the same level of quality and attention to detail that fans of Level-5 and Studio Ghibli have come to expect,” said Level-5 CEO, Akihiro Hino.

Also ists eigentlich eh egal, welches man bestellt. ^^

Rumour: Extreme Escape Adventure: Good People Die Headed To North America

A scan from the latest issue of Nintendo Power hosted on Go Nintendo says that Extreme Escape Adventure: Good People Die will be released in North America by the end of the year, naming Aksys as the game’s publisher.

Good People Die is a follow-up to Chunsoft’s previous visual novel adventure on the Nintendo DS, 999: Nine Hours, Nine Doors, Nine Persons, which was published in North America by Aksys.

Two weeks ago, Aksys said on their website: “You might want to pick up the next Nintendo Power, on stands on 2/28, for a very special announcement.” Additionally, back in December, they mentioned a mystery game slated for Fall 2012.

Those sound like they could be referring to the same piece of news, provided that the Nintendo Power scan is real. When we got in touch with Aksys to ask, Aksys Games’ Asisstant Brick Wall, Aileen Viray, told us: “No comment!”

Extreme Escape Adventure: Good People Die is a multiplatform Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita release in Japan. While the Nintendo Power article pertains to the 3DS version of the game, we don’t know yet if the Vita version will make it over as well or not.

:sabber:

Ayumi Picks Up A British Accent For Blades of Time

Remember Blades of Time? Konami announced the X-Blades follow-up last year, and pushed the game’s ability to let you create clones of yourself that copy the last action you performed. Now, they’ve released a new trailer, along with a release date for Europe:

[video=youtube;8BzhK-e70y8]

Blades of Time is being developed by Gaijin Entertainment. While it stars the same Ayumi from X-Blades, Blades of Time has a more realistic look to it…and gives Ayumi an English accent. You can listen to what she sounded like in X-Blades here.

Blades of Time is slated for release on March 16th in Europe. Konami’s U.S. division haven’t announced a finalized date yet. We’ll update when they do.

Etrian Odyssey IV kommt fürn 3DS

http://www.gbase.ch/mobile/news/11756/Etrian-Odyssey-Runde-IV-auf-3DS-52471.html
