Open-world, big action games is something EA has yet to excel at. That is about to change.

EA, unlike other major publishers like Ubisoft, Warner, or Take-Two, doesn’t have its own action franchise. The publisher’s portfolio covers shooters, racing games, sports, and other smaller projects – but nothing quite on the level of GTA, Assassin’s Creed, or Batman.

“If you look at the biggest segment in our industry, which is action, we don’t have a lot,” EA’s executive vice president Patrick Soderlund told IGN. “EA is not known to make gigantic action games like Assassin’s Creed or Batman or GTA or those types of games that are really big.

“The strategic direction that we put in motion is to expand our portfolio more into that segment, to see what can we bring to gamers that maybe hasn’t been done before.”

Holt euch Planetbase vom Steam.

Why Did Hideo Kojima Leave Konami?

On Friday, October 9th, Hideo Kojima left the Tokyo offices of Konami, the video-game company where he had worked since 1986, for the last time. The departure ceremony, according to one of the hundred or so guests who attended, and who asked that I not use his name, took place at Kojima Productions, the director’s in-house studio, and was “a rather cheerful but also emotional goodbye.” He said that he did not see Konami’s president, Hideki Hayakawa, or its C.E.O., Sadaaki Kaneyoshi, at the party, but some of Kojima’s colleagues from other studios showed up to pay their respects, as did many of the people who worked on his most recent directorial project, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

It’s likely that, after Kojima’s non-compete clause expires, in December, he will find a new studio and continue making lavishly produced games.

10 Big Myths About Video Games, Debunked By The People Who Make Them

  • Misconception: Game Developers Are Lazy
  • Misconception: A Good Idea Is All a Game Needs
  • Misconception: DLC Is Evil (“I see a lot of disparaging of Day 1 DLC especially, but I wish the gaming public understood that in many cases this is in no way taking away from the core title,” - aber es passiert(e) halt trotzdem schon :ugly:)
  • Misconception: Realistic Graphics Mean a Better Game

u.s.w.
