radiant Geschrieben 12. August 2014 Geschrieben 12. August 2014 (bearbeitet) Bezüglich der Demo-Diskussion, die wir vor ein paar Tagen im PS4-Thread hatten (fehlende Demos): Madden NFL 15, the latest in EA's long line of American football games, won't be getting a free demo, with early access reserved for those who have signed up for the publisher's recently launched, Xbox One exclusive Access service. It breaks a tradition going back some ten years whereby a demo for the game would be released two weeks prior to the launch. EA Access offers early access to games such as Madden 15, Dragon Age: Inquisition and FIFA 15. We've asked EA to confirm whether the demo for this year's FIFA title will also be reserved for EA Access subscribers. "The difficult decision not to do a demo for Madden was strictly a result of the team's commitment to deliver the highest quality game possible," EA said in a statement provided to IGN. "We chose to put 100% of our development resources toward the full game." Dickes fettes Also gibt man faktisch zu, die letzten Jahre NICHT 100% der Ressourcen in die Entwicklung von hochqualitativen Spielen gesteckt zu haben? .. heikle Aussage.... meine Herren.

radiant Geschrieben 13. August 2014 Geschrieben 13. August 2014 "Right now with Rare we're at a point where I don't want the Rare brand to mean Kinect Sports. The Rare brand can be more valuable to them, to us and to gamers than that. "I think it's about them thinking about the next game that's going to be the next 'Rare game' and really stand for what they are. I know they've got some great ideas. I've not been up to Twycross for maybe six months, but I'm planning on getting up there this fall and seeing bits for the new game. But I know they're hard at work and Phil Harrison has been up talking to them. "So they've got some new ideas, they're excited about them and I think Rare should, can and will be an important part of our game future." Limality Geschrieben 14. August 2014 Geschrieben 14. August 2014 ]1. Prove that it benefits gamers to not have a single dominant platform within a generation. Please. This is the biggest myth on this forum. A dominant console within a generation is good for everyone but the losing 1st parties. Gamers can get the vast majority of great games without sinking tons of extra money into extraneous hardware (the average system purchase is in the $150-$200 window, so you buy 3-4 fewer games than you could have otherwise). Publishers can focus on a single primary format, saving millions in port costs without losing significant market access. The reduced hardware purchases also result in more software sales. The winning first party is flush with resources and capable of aggressively building their first party offerings and pushing out innovative content with less risk of failure. So other than getting crushed being bad for MS who else would it really be bad for? MS selling 40M Xbox Ones to the PS4's 100M isn't going to keep Sony honest with the PS5. Apple, Google, Amazon, etc. are all lining their sites directly at the exact same consumers that Sony is going for and their various hardware offerings (including Sony's and Microsoft's) are nothing more than Trojan horses to bring you into a marketplace where they control content sales. In short, owning PSN, XBL, iTunes, Google Play, etc. is the new first party, and there is no shortage of companies looking to crack into that market. They're all fighting for the same disposable income. Hell, they're all fighting for the same disposable income on the hardware that locks you into these various gateways, as Sony found out all too acutely when the Dreamcast of handhelds (the almighty VITA) was dead on arrival because iPads exist. We don't need to foster false competition at the gaming specific set top box level in order to keep the pressure on Sony going forward. 2. Bayonetta isn't remotely analogous. Bayo2 wouldn't even exist without Nintendo stepping in. Hell, I'd say it's 50/50 that Platinum Games would still exist at it's current size if Nintendo didn't step in and fund both Wonderful 101 and Bayo2. Their games are great but they generally bomb commercially. They were likely one more miss away from making a similar move as Ninja Theory and making "indie AAA" short digital distro action games with half their current employees getting laid off. Platinum actually needed a hand. Meanwhile if you really think the Tomb Raider reboot wasn't getting a sequel you need to visit the real world everyone else lives in. If you think Square Enix can't bankroll it themselves join the rest of us in the real world please. If you think Crystal Dynamics' future hinges on the financial success of Tomb Raider when it is the largest and I think (but not sure) the longest continuously operating Eidos studio again, join the rest of us in the real world. 3. It doesn't suck for Playstation only gamers. It sucks for everyone who isn't an Xbox gamer. A lot of people have gone PC. You'd think that a franchise originally born on PC and that has been on PC with basically every iteration would continue to be on PC. But not anymore (well, for a few months). 4. Your title is inherently wrong as MS added zero value to the Xbox One. They simply subtracted value from the Playstation 4 and PC ecosystems. Not much because Tomb Raider isn't nearly the franchise it used to be and will likely be ported to everywhere a few months later anyway, but that is the reality of the math here. The Xbox One didn't suddenly get a new interesting game. Their 2015 lineup didn't change one iota. The other platform's lineups did. Weakening the competition doesn't benefit consumers. Strengthening your own product does. MS is playing the game backwards because playing it straight is something they're uninterested in doing. 5. Lastly, I'm not saying that MS should just "sit back and take it" while Sony runs away with the generation, but Tomb Raider exclusive for a holiday window when it's launching against Uncharted 4 isn't going to change that. It is a "show we care" transaction that will have negligible effect on the long term results they'll achieve. Why not use the money to fund something meaningful? There are opportunities similar to Bayonetta 2 out there waiting to be seized. Do that. There are studios in a similar position to where Naughty Dog was when Sony bought them (successful studio sick of contracting with a shitty 3rd party), do something like that. Bankroll an entirely new studio. Anything that actually ADDS content to the industry. That is the problem here. Microsoft's strategy isn't to add more content to the industry, it's to wall off already existing content. That is a losing proposition for gamers. Tomb Raider Reboot 2: Electric Bowgaloo was happening anyway so we as gamers haven't gained anything new to play. Meanwhile Sony is likely pushing support behind a Silent Hill reboot featuring Hideo Kojima and Guillermo Del Torro. If you think that would have ever happened from Konami (a 3rd party in real dire straights) without a 1st party backing it in some fashion you're lying to yourself. They're funding a new Grasshopper title. They're backing Ancel's new crazy ass online animal simulator. Even their deal with No Man's Sky makes sense. They aren't forcing exclusivity or for the developers to feign exclusivity but in exchange for being on PS4 first they're basically going to help accelerate the game's completion and polish to make it something really special. Given that the studio making it is like two dozen people that's significant. These are the kinds of deals we should want as gamers. A good use of first party muscle/financial resources is something that meets the following criteria: 1. helping a new indie deliver something unique. 2. helping an established indie make the jump from the fringe into the mainstream. 3. helping an established 3rd party bring back a long dead IP. 4. purchase of a studio with shaky financials but strong track record of making good games so that they can stop worrying about paychecks and focus entirely on their games. Those are the transactions Microsoft needs to prioritize, not this addition by subtraction dick measuring with Sony. I don't give a shit who thinks they win the exclusives battle for Holiday 2015, I care about who is delivering new gaming experiences. Microsoft continues to refuse real investment in that aspect of the industry. Until they do they'll have no real roots in the gaming community and shouldn't be surprised at the negative reaction they earn themselves with these anti-consumer business decisions. Stimme dem Typen zu...wirklich schade, dass Microsoft das Geld nicht anders investiert. Zitieren
